After-School Programs That Change Lives—Thanks to Dedicated Professionals
Join NAofA in celebrating Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 21–25.
At the National Academy of Athletics (NAofA), we believe that every young person deserves access to high-quality after-school experiences—programs that support their growth, spark curiosity, and help them thrive.
Behind every great program is a dedicated Afterschool Professional—a mentor, educator, and champion for kids. As we approach Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 21–25, 2025, we’re proud to join the nationwide effort to recognize the 850,000+ afterschool professionals who make a profound difference in the lives of young people every single day.
“When my kids were little, we were blessed to have amazing after-school programs that helped shape who they are today,” said Aaron Locks, Founder & CEO of the National Academy of Athletics. “Ms. Lisa and her team were great mentors who did more than just supervise—they created safe, welcoming spaces where my kids could grow, explore, and thrive. They built strong homework habits, sparked interests in music, and taught them how to navigate friendships and challenges. It wasn’t just about keeping them busy—it was about building a foundation for life.”
At NAofA, our after-school sports programs are designed specifically for K–8 students, introducing them to the fundamentals of various sports, games, and exercises. Our age-appropriate curriculum promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, helping children develop essential skills and a lifelong interest in sports and fitness. Our programs are led by NAofA Certified Coaches who undergo comprehensive background checks and in-depth training to ensure the highest quality instruction. We manage all aspects of the program—from supplying necessary sports equipment to implementing safe check-in and check-out procedures—providing a hassle-free and well-organized after-school sports experience for your community.
“What meant the most was how these programs reinforced the value of being kind, respectful, and engaged in the community,” Locks added. “These leaders weren’t just teaching games—they were modeling empathy, integrity, and leadership. I’ll always be grateful for the lasting impact they had on my children. After-school programs aren’t just helpful—they’re essential in helping kids grow into their best selves.”
In today’s digital age, where screen time often replaces play time, our afterschool sports programs give kids the chance to move their bodies, learn teamwork, have fun, and grow in confidence—all in a safe and supportive environment.
Join us this week in celebrating the impact of afterschool professionals. Say thank you. Share a story. Shine a spotlight. Because when we support those who support our kids, we strengthen our communities.
