Do your kids PLAY enough?

Do your kids PLAY enough?
I mean really play?

PLAY
Activity engaged in for enjoyment and recreation,

just for the HEALTH of it!

when I was a kid we played every day - we learned to compete, deal with success and failure - have fun - deal with bullies - improvise - adapt - be creative and PLAY -

I truly feel our children are missing out...

so... Do your kids play enough?

Team Building

Often times we take ourselves to serious when coaching kids - we like to start off doing some team building so that the kids can learn more about who their team is and who will be playing with them - check out the video of our staff traning - Visit our facebook page for all of our videos....

the success of a coach is not based on wins and losses

Remember, the success of a coach is not based on wins and losses.  It is based on how he or she stresses the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, skill, integrity & respect.

It is sometimes hard to remember this when we are in the middle of a game against our rivals, however in the end... The players will not rememebr the wins or losses they will rememeber the feeling they had playing for you, their coach.

To Quit or Not

What to do if you feel your child is not getting FAIR play time in sports?

What to do if you feel your child is not getting FAIR play time in sports?

I feel really depends on the velocity of the individual league.

Some leagues say that every cable place equal time, While others have differently minimums.
I feel the best leagues are the ones that do have minimums, however allow for players to have to earn the opportunity to get the additional playtime.

SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S COACH!

How do we best support our child's coach?
I believe, oftentimes it's as simple as just making sure that your child says thank you to their coach at every practice and game.
Teaching your child to be grateful to their coach also teaches them to respect and value their coach.
The more your child respects and appreciates their coach, the more they will gain from their youth sports experience on that team.

Ever deal with a bad coach who is a parent?

In my experience one of the biggest contributors have to deal with when a youth sports coach is coaching their own child. I have coached my son and I know that there are a different set of feelings that go along with coaching your own child. We start out with wanting the best for our child and then the drive or competition steps in...

When I teach our parent and coach retreats we discuss a few things around this topic however none is more spot on in my book than this...
