Winter Break Basketball

The importance of attending basketball training during the basketball season

Often times we put our child into a sport and don;t really allow them the chance to learn how to play or more abot the ruls of the game before tha are thrown out on the field and asked to "compete".

I have found that by helping kids to learn the fundamentals fo the game and the rules they feel much more confident and enjoy the experience significanty.

YOUTH SPORTS CAMPS A RESOURCE FOR WORKING PARENTS

Organizations offer Alternative to Childcare
With the fall season upon us, and the holidays right around the corner, many parents are discovering a great resource available to them in Santa Rosa and surrounding communities. Youth sports camps, recently being made available by organizations such as the YMCA and National Academy of Athletics, are being provided to occupy those active kids on days when parents need to work and kids are out of school.

What to do if you feel your child is not getting FAIR play time in sports?

What to do if you feel your child is not getting FAIR play time in sports?

I feel really depends on the velocity of the individual league.

Some leagues say that every cable place equal time, While others have differently minimums.
I feel the best leagues are the ones that do have minimums, however allow for players to have to earn the opportunity to get the additional playtime.

Prepairing your child for the upcoming basketball season

We live in a society where many parents are trying to get their child every little advantage to help them become the best basketball player in their area. The bad news is that players can only improve within the limitations of athletic ability, natural talent, determination, size, aggressiveness and coachability. Good news, there are many places where players can go to get the instruction needed to help them along in their basketball education.

SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S COACH!

How do we best support our child's coach?
I believe, oftentimes it's as simple as just making sure that your child says thank you to their coach at every practice and game.
Teaching your child to be grateful to their coach also teaches them to respect and value their coach.
The more your child respects and appreciates their coach, the more they will gain from their youth sports experience on that team.
