kids playing sports

Playing more than one sport

There is a trend taking place in youth sports. Some kids are specializing and training year-round in one sport at an early age.

When I was younger, multi-sport athletes seemed to be the norm. I feel sorry for kids today who only play one sport, because I can’t imagine my past without any of the three sports I played.

As an offensive player in football, I strategized with my teammates in the huddle about how we would attack the defense.

In basketball, I remember leanring how to play both offense and defense.

Want your child to keep playing Sports?

Remember that the number one reason why your child quit is that it stopped being fun!

As a parent, you can do several simple things to help keep it fun:

1. Root for the effort rather than just the result. If your child feels safe and encouraged just for trying he or she will want to try more.
