Travel Basketball or not

AAU or Ameteur Athletic Union was originally designed to allow players to continue to play their sport during the “off season”.

In this day and age, it has become that there really is no “off season”. Your child does not have to play year ‘round basketball or any sport for that matter. With that said, the players that are continuing to work on their skills and play in games during the “off season” improve quicker than players who take the entire “off season” off.

Don’t be fooled,AAU is competitive based. If you this your child might want to play AAU basketball, here are a few things you might want to ask the coach or team director.

What are the coaches credentials and coaching history? Philosophy? Cost? Commitment? Can my child play other sports? When & where are practices? How do you determine who receives playing time? How many tournaments are we playing in?
